Starting From The Roots

From documentaries- to globe trotting…here's my way to spread some inspiration.

Who’s that lady?

Born on November 27, 1982 in Alexandria, Virginia  in breech position Nihal was already kicking with the propensity to start her journey.  Her mother was born in Tanzania into a Sikh family who immigrated to East Africa in the early 1900s. Her father was born in Pakistan before the tumultuous year of the split from India. Her parents met and married in the early 70’s in London, England before relocating to the US.

Nihal graduated with honors with B.A. in Communication and minor in English from The University of California- Santa Barbara. Bypassing the expected law school route, she headed straight to E! News in Los Angles, CA. The glamor and novelty opened a world she just had to dive into head first. A year and half into LA that she felt ready race towards her next logical step: New York City.

Landing a gig as a writer for a South Asian entertainment show called “Pulse” by way of ImaginAsian TV, she found herself drenched in all things Bollywood. After honing her writing and producing skills in two major cities, she made her way to Washington D.C and landed a gig producing commercials for WTTG – FOX 5.  Aside from her exciting journalism career, she’s also a music aficionado listening to everything from classic rock to Brazilian Samba, loves traveling, surfing, island hopping, painting, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes, and learning new languages.
